Obituary of William Butler

Peacefully at Sprucedale Care Centre, Strathroy, on Sunday, August 29, 2004. Dr. William Edgar Butler B.Sc., M.D. in his 75th year. Beloved husband of Phyllis (Hull) Butler. Dear father of Joan and husband Don McQueen, Judy and husband John McNeill and Peggy and husband Clarence Graansma. Loving grandfather of Gregory, Sara, Brent and Lindsay McQueen, Amy, Patrick and Mitchell McNeill and Derek, William and Carla Graansma. Brother-in-law of Joyce But ler, Norma and Orval Allen and Jack Whitteker. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brother Ross Butler and sister-in-law Ann Whitteker. Bill graduated from University of Western Ontario Medical School in 1957. He was one of the original partners of Strathroy Medical Clinic and head of the obstetrical Department of Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital for many years. He served on the Board of Directors at University Hospital and in past served on Board of Directors for Fanshawe College and was Dean of Health Sciences at Fanshawe College. Bill was also life member of St. Johns Lodge #81 Mt. Brydges. Visitation at the Denning Bros. Funeral Home, 32 Metcalfe Street West, Strathroy on Tuesday, August 31 from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. with a Masonic Memorial Service under direction of Mt. Brydges Lodge #81 at 6:30 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the Strathroy United Church, Front Street West, Strathroy on Wednesday, September 1 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Jock Tolmay and Rev. Robert Strachan officiating. Interment in Strathroy Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital Foundation or the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada.
