Obituary of Jelle Schat

After a brief illness, Jelle Schat, born 1932, passed from this earthly life into the safe refuge of his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital. Devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and dear friend to many. Survived by his wife Hilda (VanderMeer) and children Shirley and Bert Knoop of Goderich, Joel and Marina Schat of Mount Elgin, Clarissa and Gary Unger of Mission B.C, Derek and Nancy Schat of Essex. Grandfather of Nick, Chris, Jessica, Sara, Rachel, Ryan, Joshua, Janine and great-grandchildren Mylee, Kolby and Jayden. Predeceased by his brother Dirk and sister Clary. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2008 at 12 noon in East Christian Reformed Church, 476 Metcalfe St, Strathroy, with Pastor Andrew deGelder officiating. Visitation 1 hour prior in church. Private interment in Grove Cemetery, Ingersoll. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital. A special thanks to the staff of the ICU and 1st floor nurses of SMGH as well as Dr Gomes and Dr. Chapeskie.
