Obituary of Gerard Jozef Cornelis
It is with heavy hearts, the family of Gerard Jozef Cornelis announces his passing on March 3rd, 2023 at LHSC-Victoria Hospital at the age of 78. Dear husband of Trucy Cornelis for 53 wonderful years. Survived by his children Robert and Stacey, Richard, Noella and Carl Litt, the late Maria, Dr. Marilyn Cornelis and Gary and Heather. Proud grandpa of Christian, Leah, Madison, the late Spencer (2022), Carson, Caitlyn, Nolan, Josie and Lila. Gerard will be missed by his siblings the late Marcel and Jacqueline, the late Roger and late Maria, the late Cecile and late Albert Maes, the late Denise, Robert and Emma, Germain and Aline, Firmain and Francine, Godelieve and late George Maes, Angele and Camille De Guchtenaere, Gabriala and late Roger Sierens , Maria Cornelis and close nephew Philippe and Janet Maes. He will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews in Belgium. Predeceased by his parents Maria LeClair and Omer Cornelis
Gerard was born in Wondelgem, Belgium on May 19th 1944. Gerard loved to visit all his brothers and sisters annually in Belgium if possible, along with some school friends that he has always kept in touch with.
Survived by his in-laws the late Nick Terpstra, the late Harry and late Louisa Terpstra, the late Thomas and Linda Terpstra, Case and Joyce Terpstra, Leo and Henrica Terpstra, the late Edith and late John Van Rooy, Rudy and Marianne Terpstra, Mary and Andre Verhaeghe, Joseph and Mary Terpstra, Cathy and Adrian Kusterman, Joanne Terpstra and many nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will take place at DENNING’S OF AILSA CRAIG on March 8th, 2023 from 1-3pm and 6-8pm. A Memorial Mass will take place on March 10th, 2023 at 11:00am at St. Patrick Parish in Lucan.
