On behalf of the President and membership of the Lorne Scots Regimental Association, I would offer our condolences. Bill was an enthusiastic member of the Regiment before he moved on to the Regular Force. Lots of laughter and smiles. He will be deeply missed.

Mrs Colleen Martina and Family -
I write to express to you and your family the sincere condolences of the Patricias on the passing of Corporal WE Martina, CD (Ret'd). I cannot but say that I should have met your husband over his years in 2 PPCLI - but my service there was earlier (1984-86), but I visited the unit often in the decades after that. That said, the Regiment remembers Bill's service, and you and your family can be proud, as you are, of that service to peace. His name will be read in this year’s list of the lost when we read that list out this November in the Scared Space in Beechwood, the National Military Cemetery, Ottawa. His name will also be listed in the 2020 edition of the Patrician’s Last Post section.
Thank you for obviously supporting Bill throughout his service and later. We are glad that he had a vibrant family and, we hope, a good life after the army.
Should any of your family want to maintain a connection with the Regiment, a gratis three year Memorial Membership in the PPCLI Association is available. Contact Mr Herb Kenny, the Membership Chairman, at hkenny@shaw.ca, for details.
We hope you and your family remember Bill fondly as a soldier as well as a husband and friend, father, uncle. Thank you all.

Bill was our neighbor when we first moved to Nairn, he was always friendly and kind.
Every July 1st he would have the best fireworks display around.
He will be sadly missed by all his friends and neighbors.
Thinking of all of you at this difficult time

I have such fond childhood memories of Billy. You always made me laugh! An eager ear to share my worries. Thank you for teaching me how to dance and helping to write and star in our silly play (grade 6). Thank you for your service to our country.
My sincerest condolences to Bill's family and friends. May your memories of Bill comfort you now and forever.
Warmest sympathies,

I spent many summer days playing Risk with Bill and his sons at their home in Nairn. Those games would stretch long into the night with me coming home either late for dinner or in the early hours of the next morning. Both Colleen and Bill welcomed me into their home with open arms and countless bags of chips I demolished, despite their sons asking me to slow down. Bill helped to spark my love of board games and for that I will be forever thankful. I want to send my condolences to Reece, Cody, Charlotte and Colleen. We lost touch over the years but I will forever treasure the memories I made with the Martina family. I hope you are all safe and healthy, surrounded by those you love and those who love you

Our most heartfelt condolences to Colleen, Charlotte, Cody and Reece, as well as to the entire extended family. If ever there was a friend you could always count on, Bill was that friend! We can't begin to count the number of times we bartered favours back & forth, and we will treasure our memories of every moment spent in his company. Through conversations over a brew from a lawn chair, over coffee at the kitchen table, long phone conversations, drives to Ipperwash , or get-togethers in his shop...we learned quick that Bill was a dedicated family man, a tireless patriot to his country; a man with a sense of humour, a quick wit, and a generous spirit - especially when it came to his family and friends. We will miss him dearly, ........ soldiers don't really die........they go to heaven and re-group. We salute you "Army Bill". Wayne & Kerry (Pooky) Higman

I am tremendously sad to hear of Bill’s passing, and I extend my deepest condolences to Colleen and his family and friends. Bill and I were in 2PPCLI Recce Platoon together in Winnipeg, including our tour in Croatia in 1993, where he always had our back and would never fail to bring a smile to our faces. Our platoon picture, with Bill well placed in the centre, hangs prominently in my office. He will be missed, and we will remember him.
