Obituary of Dick Veenstra

On Sunday evening, Dick Veenstra was given the gift he had been granted as a result of his faith - he was called to heaven. Dick fought a long courageous battle with cancer and those who walked with him in this journey were inspired by his faith and strength. Dick was 78 years old. Dick has left behind his wife Joan Keys-Veenstra and is predeceased by his first wife Wilma (Haverkamp). Dick has four children, who along with their spouses, are blessed to have had such a wonderful father: Alice and Henry Salomons, John and Nibby Veenstra, Teresa and Nino Orlandi and Leroy Veenstra and Jennifer Davies. The grandchildren, 13 in total, along with 3 great grandchildren called him Grandpa and Papa. Dick will be dearly missed by Joan's children Darryl, Beth and Bonnie and their families. Visitation will be held at Westmount Christian Reformed Church, 405 Drury Lane, Strathroy, on Wednesday from 6-9 p.m, where the Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Peter Hoytema officiating. Interment to follow in Strathroy Cemetery.
