Obituary of Thelma Mercer

Peacefully with her family by her side at Watford Quality Care, Watford, on Tuesday, March 22, 2011, Thelma Jo Mercer (Cooper) passed, in her 93rd year. Beloved wife of the late Robert Lyall Mercer. Loving mother of Robert Paul Mercer (Joan Churchill) of Waterloo and Tlan Kent Mercer (Tanja) of British Columbia. Cherished grandmother of Robert Jay Mercer (Joanne Machan), Tracy MacArthur (William) and Leonard Mercer. Great-grandmother of Ryan and Haley MacArthur, and Robert Joel Mercer. Dear sister of Lavern Cooper (Dorothy) of British Columbia and sister-in-law of Minn Craig (Don) of Peterborough. Thelma is predeceased by her parents Morris and Myrtle Cooper, as well as her brother-in-law Bryce Mercer. Visitation will be held at Denning Bros. Funeral Home, Strathroy on Thursday from 6-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Friday, March 25, 2011 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Karen Nelles officiating. Interment later in the spring at Harriston Cemetery. Special thank you to all the staff at Watford Quality Care, and all of Jo's friends at Twin Elms Park and the Strathroy Senior Centre. Jo will be dearly missed by her two best friends Vera and Connie. Donations in memory of Thelma may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
